We are a small University (yes, you heard me, UNIVERSITY) based in Plymouth. We used to be two separate colleges based in London; St. John’s College (Battersea) and St. Mark’s college (Chelsea). In the early 1920s the two merged and were based in Chelsea until their move to Plymouth some 50 years later. Then we latched on to the University of Exeter and were later awarded University College status. That has since changed again and our application for University status was approved in 2012, we are soon to be the University of St. Mark and St. John (not sure if they’re going to keep the ‘Plymouth’ bit in…?).
There are some really great aspects about Marjon. Firstly, as I said, we are a small uni. This means that you get to know a lot of faces pretty quickly. It also means we have a pretty good sense of community. Secondly is the sports. We have so many sporting facilities, teams, games, clubs etc. etc. etc. It’s a brilliant place to be for all that good stuff! Lastly is the teaching staff. I’ve only had experience of a tiny handful, but have been so happy with who I have come across at Marjon. My lecturers make the topics interesting, we do a good mixture of written and practical work, they are really helpful and generally really friendly, too.
There’s not much else to say, really, other than I’m really enjoying being a student here.
Oh and also that Plymouth Uni are scum, of course ha ha ha!
